We proudly present 2018 event schedule: RC44 Portorož Cup & SSC18 First ever European Championship

Dear friends,

Short and to the point:
We proudly present our 2018 event schedule:
- RC44 Portorož Cup, 8.-13. May 2018
- First Seascape 18 European Championship, 28. Aug – 1. Sep 2018

More info on:

RC44 Portorož Cup: http://rc44.com/news/2018-rc44-championship-schedule-announced
First Seascape 18 European Champonship: http://www.seascape18.si/europeans-2018/

We will come up with more later (starting in May 2018), but one thing is sure: without our team leader and ever positive motivator Mitja Margon, not one event would have been organized by our club.
He is the one bringing together sailors, volunteers and sailing enthusiasts from all sides, he is the one urging team work and have us focusing on one goal only: a combination of making it a nice experience for everybody & charity activity.

We, who are building the team are happy to be part of this story and hope for many more events to come.

More coming up soon!

2017 season is over, getting ready for 2018

Dear sailors, dear friends,

Another year went by, another big event successfully completed, how about 2018?
We are planning a nice championship in summer time – not our “traditional” racing period, but definitely nice for our foreign fellow sailors to come to race in Portorož.

We are happy more and more sailors and volunteers from other Slovene sailing clubs are joining us during our events and we will do our best to keep acting as a binding factor between us sailors.

No no, we will not reveal our plans – stay tuned qnd we’ll come up with more info around May 2018.

Until then: have a great year 2018 and let the wind and the waves be on your side!

Fireball Open Slovene Championship 2017 finished

Dear Fireball competitors,

We have spent another three nice days sailing, although we were hoping for a bit more wind – to be honest.
However, the morning cloudinesses were not very promising, but in the end we had enough wind to sail 9 races. Sunday rewarded us for being patient and we sailed 4 races in 6-8 its of sea breeze.

We missed some of the last year’s crews, but we were happy that our foreign sailing mates have joined us again.

Below link will take you to results, that means it is time to congratulate the podium crews.

Absolute ranking:
1. SUI 14799 Claude Mermod – Ruedi Moser
2. SUI 14859 Fuchur Christina Haerdi – Cedric Landerer
3. CZE 15095 Radka Klusackova – Jiri Gemprle

Slovene Nationals:
1. SLO 14989 Matija Kocjančič – Marko Volk – new National Champion 2017/2018
2. SLO 14252 Jaka Kralj – Andrej Markota
3. SLO 14730 Miha Kavčič – Matic Kavčič/Tomo Pečaver

CONGRATULATIONS!
We thank again all competitors for coming and also all our dear friends who helped us made this regatta happen on such a short notice.
Cheers,
Team GoSAILING

FJ WORLDS 2017: Racing Day 2 Wrap-Up

A beautiful sunny Racing Day 2 is finishing also in our Race Office. For the end of the day we are giving you a few facts from the race course and results after 6 races.
Race 4 started at 6,6 kts and finished after almost 49 minutes at 8 kts of sea breeze.
During the day the wind shifted slightly to the left as predicted in the morning forecast – Race 4 was sailed at wind from 320 deg which during racing period shifted for 45 deg, so Race 6 was sailed at wind from 275 deg.
The wind was slightly picking up and last race of the day was sailed in pleasant 10-12 kts – typical summer sea breeze.

“This is the wind I like” said Guido Sol (NED 1316, currently 3rd), which we met in front of the Race Office and asked him, how was his day. What is really interesting is the average age of the boats – Guido for example sails a 42-year-old wooden boat. We will try to find the oldest and the newest boat sailing this Championship – mission for tomorrow :)

Race Committee came ashore pleased as they had more stable conditions than yesterday, when the wind was constantly changing in strength and direction.

We hope also competitors had a nice day on the water..if not until coming ashore they surely got pleased after pasta and typical Slovenian “potica”, hosted by FJ Team Slovenija.
Host of Tuesday evening was FJ Team Germany and we hope to get some photos to include them in our photo material as we heard it was a very nice evening and gathering.

Today we have also posted 2 photo albums and we will be happy to get more photos if there is anyone who would mind us publishing them. Race Office is never really closed ;)

FJ WORLDS 2017: Racing Day 1 – No Official results yet, protest reopenning tomorrow

It is 20:30 on Racing Day 1 of FJ Worlds here in Portorož and even though anticipated we will not be able to post Official results tonight as we have a protest reopening tomorrow.
Both competitors and Race Committee had a tough day on the water, with moderate (around 7 kts) shifty wind with changing direction mostly from NE.
Jury had a busy evening and we believe it is ok to call it a night.
This is all from the Race Office, have a nice evening and see you all tomorrow, when we will try to make a nice wrap-up with some photos and impressions from competitors and Race Committee – some of today’s photos and movie clips are available on our FB profile:

FJ WORLDS 2017: Racing Day 1 – Unofficial Results after 3 races

Racing day 1 of FJ Worlds is finished on the water, but definitely not ashore.
Still hearings in process, so we will have to wait a while to post official results.
But afterwards a more pleasant activity is planned – sailors will gather in hangar where the measurement took place for Slovenian evening with nice wine and famous “potica” (typical Slovene festive dish).

So until we post the official ones, here is the link to unofficial results after 3 races:
